„Babie lato” to opowieść o przenikaniu się dwóch światów. Razem z tancerką udajemy się w podróż podążając za głosem jej niewidomej babci Chai. Imię to posiada w języku hebrajskim kilka znaczeń. Dwa z nich to „żywa” i „żyła”. Tę dwoistość odnajdziemy także w jej osobistej historii. W trakcie prac nad spektaklem oraz premiery w maju 2018 Chaja żyła bowiem jeszcze w Izraelu, ale jej wspomnienia, zarejestrowane podczas cyklu rozmów, dotyczyły dzieciństwa, które spędziła w przedwojennym polskim miasteczku.
W ciemności, w ślad za głosem bohaterki, artystka stara się uchwycić i zachować jej wizje, wrażenia z przeszłości, charakter i naturę, wplatając w nie swoje przeżycia i wątki związane z decyzją o przeprowadzce do Polski u schyłku lata 2017. Jak w tytułowym obrazie Józefa Chełmońskiego towarzyszy nam nastrój kończącej się pory roku, metaforycznie związany tu z procesem życiowych zmian i odchodzenia w przeszłość. Realistyczny pejzaż przywodzi również na myśl znany artystce z barwnych, naturalistycznych opowieści Chai, obraz życia w polskim sztetlu i jego wiejskich okolicach.
Krok po kroku, w rytm kolejnych wyobrażeń, ciało tancerki staje się pośrednikiem oraz narzędziem dla głosów przeszłości i przemieszcza się pomiędzy tym, co minione a tym, co dzisiejsze. Stajemy się świadkami wędrówki dusz niczym w opowieściach żydowskiego folkloru, kabale czy chasydzkiego mistycyzmu. Poprzez dźwięk i ruch artystka próbuje przywrócić do życia osoby, miejsca, tradycje i nieistniejący już świat.

Dybuk na stulecie
9 grudnia 2020 roku mija 100 lat od światowej prapremiery „Dybuka” Szymona An-skiego. Z tej okazji Instytut Teatralny im. Zbigniewa Raszewskiego we współpracy z instytucjami zajmującymi się upowszechnianiem sztuki żydowskiej stworzył program wydarzeń towarzyszących rocznicy. W ramach projektu „DYBUK na stulecie” w dniach 8-9 grudnia odbędzie się między innymi premiera online instalacji VR-owej w reżyserii Pawła Passiniego, pokaz spektaklu – także online – „Babie lato” Adi Weinberg oraz międzynarodowe seminarium poświęcone twórczości Szymona An-skiego i rozmowa reżyserów wokół scenicznych dziejów dramatu. Zaplanowano także publikację – dotychczas uznawanego za zaginione – tłumaczenia „Dybuka”.

Indian Summer is a tale of two worlds interfusing.
Together with the dancer we are setting off on a journey, following the voice of her blind grandmother Chaya. Her name holds several meanings in the Hebrew language. Two of those are “alive” and “lived”. This duality is also reflected in her life story. During the rehearsal period and the premiere in May 2018, Chaya was still alive, in Israel, but her memories, recorded through the series of conversations, were reaching back to her childhood, which she had spent in a small pre-war Polish town.
In the darkness, following her grandma’s voice, the artist is endeavouring to grasp and preserve grandmother’s visions, impressions from the past, the character and nature, intertwining her own experiences and threads connected with moving to Poland in the late summer of 2017.
Just like in the painting by Józef Chełmoński of the same title, the prevailing mood is of the end of a season, metaphorically associated with the process of life changes, of fading into the past. Realistic landscape evokes the memories of vivid, naturalistic stories of Chaya, images of life in a Polish shtetl and its rural neighbourhood. Direct experience of nature, characteristic to the age of realism in visual arts, has engaged the artist both during her first visit at the National Museum in Warsaw, as well as through long hours of conversations filled with memories and past images of Tomaszów and Lubelskie Region.
Step by step, in the rhythm of images emerging, the body of the artist becomes an agent and a tool of the voices of the past, moving between what was and what now is.
Gradually we become witnesses of a metempsychosis, as if drawn from the Jewish folk tales, Kabbalah or Hasidic mysticism. Through sounds and movement the artist is trying to bring people, places, traditions, the no-longer-existing world back to life…

ADI WEINBERG
ADI WEINBERG is a dancer, choreographer and Gaga teacher (the movement language developed by Ohad Naharin, artistic director and choreographer of the Batsheva Dance Company). She has been building the Gaga community in Warsaw over the last 3 years, teaching Gaga and other workshops in Warsaw, Lublin and at various other events and festivals across Poland, Europe and Israel.
She graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the Haifa Program for Professional Dancers and did an apprenticeship in Vertigo Dance Company. As a contemporary dancer she performed at many festivals around the world.
She has worked with choreographers and institutions, such as: Andrea Costanzo Martini, Nadar Rosano, Efrat Rubin, Rachel Erdos, Noa Zuk, Aviv Eveguy, Shimrit Golan, Yuval Goldstein, Sharon Vaisvaser, Deganit Shemi, Michael Miller, Weronika Pelczyńska, Agnieszka Glińska, Fresco Dance Company, the Israeli Opera and the Polish National Opera.
Since 2014, she developed as a choreographer and performed her creations at various platforms and festivals, including Machol Shalem International Dance week, Tel Aviv Dance festival at Suzanne Dellal, MAAT festival, MSTT festival, KRoki festival and more.
In 2017 she was awarded with a grant from Mifal HaPais Council for the Culture and Arts for developing her choreography. Additionally, she is a Shiatsu therapist, Ayurveda-Seed masseur and a Pilates instructor.
